What should you bring to swimming lessons?
Water Babies 1 to Water Tots:
- Aqua Nappy – disposable or reusable (disposable aqua nappies are available at reception for $3).
- Swimmers
- Towel
- For Infant classes bring a rash shirt or old shirt for the person who is getting in with the child.
Level 1 to Level 6:
- Swimmers
- Towel
- Hair-tie or cap if swimmer has long hair.
- Goggles - Practicing to swim without goggles is also important. We recommend that sometimes when your child is play swimming, they do not wear their goggles, so this helps them get used to swimming without them.
Level 7 to Level 10:
- Swimmers
- Goggles
- Swimming cap for students with long hair (or make sure their hair is tied back out of their way). There are many benefits of your child wearing a swim cap including keeping hair out of eyes, creates less drag and improves mobility. Once you child is used to wearing a cap they will find it hard to swim without one.
- Towel
- Drink bottle
- Flippers

Frequently Asked Questions
Check our Lesson Fees page to find out our current costs.
Yes, you can certainly bring your child for a swim before or after their lesson however we encourage play swimming to be at the end of the lesson, so all students are full of energy for the lesson ahead. Play swimming is a great time to practice skills learnt during lessons. A play swim after their lessons can be good incentive for your child to try hard in their lesson.
However, play swimming is only allowed in the leisure area. We do not allow anyone in the ramp area of the program pool (lesson pool) before or after their lesson as this can be distracting to children currently in their lesson.
The Oasis permits the use of private photography during swimming lessons however we reserve the right to inspect, stop or delete any images/video material if we suspect inappropriate photography. No photography or video equipment including mobile phones permitted in the change facilities at any time.
All swim instructors either hold their AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming, Water Safety or a Swim Australia teacher Certificate or Royal Life Saving.
Some instructors also hold additional qualifications, for example AUSTSWIM/Royal Life Saving teacher of infant aquatics, AUSTSIWM/Royal Life Saving teacher of competitive strokes AUSTSWIM/Royal Life Saving Teacher of All Abilities or Access and Inclusion and well as AUTSWIM/Royal Life Saving teacher of Adults.
It is not uncommon for a child to remain in the same class for several sessions as all children learn different skills at different rates. It is important to ensure all skills are preformed competently before progressing to the next level.
We endeavour to have the instructors assigned to each class as soon as possible. However as most of our instructors are university students and their university timetables change frequently, this may mean that the class appointed instructor might also change. We do help families if they request specifically a female or male teacher, please be flexible with your day and times.
Each customer will have access to two (2) make-up lessons per term. These can be managed within the Client Portal and any unused make-up lessons will expire at the end of the term.
If you are away, or if your child is sick, or whatever reason it might be that causes you to miss a lesson, as long as you cancel at least two hours before your lessons start time you will be given a make-up lesson token where you can book another single lesson at a time that suits. This can all be done in the portal.
